Having our own young family, we understand the need to travel lighter and not have the worry of forgetting something. With this in mind, we make sure we have child friendly gites and provide a selection of baby and child equipment that is available free for you to use.
Just let us know in advance and we’ll try our best to meet your needs.
We have picnic essentials too with cool boxes, ice packs, rugs and food containers for you to borrow.
We can organise child-friendly activities on site such as painting, crafts or treasure hunts too.

Family-friendly activities
With inflatables and sinkers, our beautiful pool is enough to keep the children amused for hours at our child friendly Gites When they need to run off steam, there’s our games field. On an evening, why not have a family game of ping-pong, table football or darts?
Apart from our amazing pool and on site toys and games, we have lots to do in under an hour from La Grue.
At Gourville, Anne-Lise at the Elevage du Lac offers horseriding lessons and ‘balades’.
Our closest Plan d’eau is Les Gours, fifteen minutes away, where you can fish, swim, picnic and enjoy the play area. There is also a restaurant.
Within thirty minutes’ drive from La Grue there are lakes and man-made inland beaches with beautiful, clean water at Angouleme. In the summer, there’s an amazing inflatable course on the lake called Aquajump – fun for all ages.
‘Nautilis’ waterpark is just next door to St Yriex plan d’eau with its outdoor water slides and pools.
Zoodysee is a natural animal park set in the forest of Chize and it has over 70 European species of animals to see. It’s under an hour away too.
Les Petits Bateaux is just less than an hour away and is a great day for the children with plenty to do from bouncy castles, go-karting, play area, swing boats and of course, the miniature boats to navigate around the canal and the lake.
Monkey Valley is 50 minutes away.
Chateau des Enigmes (The Castle of Riddles) is an hour away and is a fabulous full day out for all the family.
In eighty minutes you can be on the beautiful Atlantic beaches of Royan, Meschers and Chatelaillon Plage.
Accrobranche at Fontdouce has high ropes courses for all ages and abilities.
There is a nearby local farm – La Ferme d’Yvonne with lots of activities.
Poitou Baudet Donkeys with carriage rides, a donkey riding course through the woods and activity days in the Summer is only 30 minutes away.
There is loads of great things to do surrounding La Grue Gites within our local area and local towns and beautiful countryside.
