About Us
We’re the Paylors!
We wanted to change our lives and dare to live our dream.
Martin is well-travelled from his days in the military and I have always had a love for France and all things French since I was at school. After one family holiday in France, our idea was set. Crazy hey?
In 2017, we sold our house in the North-East of England and moved our young family to the beautiful Charente in South-West France with its sunny micro-climate.
December 2017 was warm (to us!) and we spent that winter like rabbits in headlights – getting to grips with renovations, a new culture and a new language.
Our wonderful neighbours and all our friends have been amazing in supporting us along the way and we are so grateful for their help.
Funnily enough, the skills we learnt in our lives working in schools have helped enormously – we’re well-organised, keen to learn and we love meeting new people.
Our children have thrived here and even with the global pandemic, we have much to be thankful for. Our lives are so different – there’s a slower pace, a real connection with nature and the elements and much more family time together.
